Wretha Sue Mutter Minor Farrar, 80, of Hanover, wife of the late Henry Thomas Farrar, Jr., died on Saturday, January 12, 2019 at The Gettysburg Center.
Born on Tuesday, December 20, 1938 in Fayetteville, WV, she was a daughter of the late Spencer Bailey Mutter, Sr. and Dorothy Crick Mutter. Wretha was a nursing assistant in Gettysburg for many years and was a Scout Master for Pack #33 also in Gettysburg. She was a member of Memorial Baptist Church in Gettysburg and would often attend First Baptist Church in Hanover. She was a strong, independent woman who loved family, her grandchildren, Angels, reading and roses. Since Wretha was born in December the Chrismas Holiday was very special and meant so much to her. She enjoyed receiving seashells her family would bring home from the beach, cooking, crafts and crocheting.
Wretha is survived by three daughters, Jody, Brenda and Pamela, all of Maryland; two sons, Vernie of Lancaster and Joseph of Waverly, OH; 19 grandchildren; 33 great grandchildren; one brother, Frank Mutter and his wife, Annie, of Arizona; one sister, Ann Humphries and her husband, Roger, of Alabama. She was preceded in death by an infant son, James Minor, two daughters, Sandy and Terry and eight siblings.
A funeral service will be held at 7 pm on Thursday, January 17, 2019 at Panebaker Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be in Arlington National Cemetery.
