Woodrow “Woody” L. Hood, Jr., 75, of Hanover, husband of Janis Darlene Hood, passed away on Wednesday, December 26, 2018 at York Hospital.
Born on Saturday, May 1, 1943 in Baltimore City, he was a son of the late Woodrow and Sally Siler Hood. In the early 1960’s, Woody pitched for the Cincinnati Reds Minor League Baseball team. Employed by the Maryland Highway Administration for 56 years, he most recently served as the Division Chief for the Materials Management Division. He enjoyed hunting, watching sports, and spending time with friends and family. He was a very generous, wonderful and loving man.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by a son, Woodrow Hood III and his wife, Tammy, of Pasadena, MD; two brothers, Lawrence Hood and his wife, Darlene of WV and Stanley Hood and his wife, Bonnie of MD; a sister, Roxanne Wood and her husband, Bill of MD; two step-children, Richard Kittle and his wife, Alison of CO and Kimberly Hale and her husband, Darryl of MD; two grandchildren and four step-grandchildren.
As per his request, he will be cremated and no services will be planned.
Being that he was a cancer survivor, memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 1004 N. Juniata Street, Hollidaysburg, PA 16648.
