Wilma G. Smith, 93, of Hanover, passed away Thursday, March 29, 2012 at her home.
Born April 14, 1918 in Newport, PA, she was a daughter of the late Harry and Jennie Mae Baker Gabel. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 42 years, Scott L. Smith, who died in 1986; a brother, Leroy Gabel; a sister, Carrie Gross; and a step-grandson, J. Scott Tosten. She was a 1936 graduate of Newport High School and was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ, Hanover. Wilma enjoyed sewing, baking pies and spending time her dogs, Wink and Casey.
Survivors include a daughter, Susan S. Erb of Hanover; a step-daughter, Carolyn S. Tosten of Waynesboro; a brother, Ray Gabel of Newport; two grandchildren, Jennifer R. Green of Folsom and Jason Kingsborough of New Cumberland; three step-grandchildren, Michael H. Tosten of Aiken, SC, Sally Jo Borzager of Selbyville, DE and SueAnn McKendrick of Waynesboro; four great-grandchildren, Isabella, Gabriel, Lucas and Kenley; and one step-great-grandson, Jeremy.
A graveside service will be held at 11:oo am Tuesday, April 3, 2012 in the Marysville Cemetery, Marysville, PA with The Rev. Peg Grzelkowski officiating. Pallbearers will be Jim Gross, Jim Hurley, Jason Kingsborough, Rich Green, Ed Hann and Jeremy Tosten.
