William H. Wentz, 86, of Hanover, beloved husband of Verna E. Stambaugh Wentz, peacefully entered into God’s eternal care on Monday, August 6, 2018 at UPMC Pinnacle Hanover.
Born on Friday, November 20, 1931 in Hanover, he was the son of the late William E. and Beatrice A. Harlacher Wentz. A 1949 graduate of Eichelberger High School, he was a US Air Force veteran of the Korean War. Bill retired in 1994 from Swam Electric Company after 41 years of service. He was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ where he served as a Deacon, Elder and usher, and was active with the tape and toy shop ministries. Bill had a passion for music. He was a life member of the Hanover Lyric Band where he played the trombone for 28 years and was a member of the American Federation of Music Local #49. He was an assistant Scout Master for Troop 104 and was a life member of the Harold H. Bair American Legion #14 and the Sampson Air Force Base Veterans Association.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of 67 years, is a son, Kenneth A. Wentz and his wife, Debra, of Camp Hill; a daughter, Kimberly D. Markey and her husband, Robin, of Etters; a granddaughter, Allison; and a large extended family. He was preceded in death by his sister, Betty L. Witmer.
A private service will be held with burial in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
