William H. “Bill” Sipling, 76, of Glenville, beloved husband of the late Catherine Bankert Sipling, to whom she had been married for more than 51 years and had passed away on April 28, 2021, passed away on January 21, 2021 at UPMC Pinnacle Hanover Hospital.
Born on Thursday, September 7, 1944, in Hanover, he was a son of the late Paul and Katie Gladfelter Sipling. He is also preceded in death by his first wife, Roxanna Anderson Sipling; and 11 siblings, Robert, Paul Jr. “June”, Richard, Sterling “Butch”, Joseph, Earl, and Kenneth Sipling, Mary Miller, Nancy Grim and infant sisters, Betty and Shirley Sipling.
After attending Delone Catholic High School, he was employed by CSX Railroad for 36 years and was lifetime member of the Home Association of McSherrystown. An avid fan of Notre Dame and the Delone Squires, he enjoyed attending sporting events, working on his land, and being outdoors.
Survivors include five children, L. Allen Garlick and his partner, Tina Nickle, Wendy Lehman and her husband, Charles, Jason Garlick and his fiancee, Dee Grimes, Colin Sipling and his wife, Ana, and Carla Hardy and her husband, Steven, Jr.; nine grandchildren, Ian Whitcomb, Zachary Garlick, Belinda and William Sipling, Timothy and Benjamin Fleischman, Justin Litvin, and Abigail and Steven Hardy, III; four siblings, Harvey and Louis Sipling, Gloria “Sis” Soullaird, and Ruth Hockensmith; and numerous nieces and nephews who loved him dearly.
A visitation for both William and Catherine will be held from 10 to 11 AM Tuesday, May 4, 2021 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5125 Grandview Road, Hanover. A memorial mass for William will follow at 11 AM. Burial for the Siplings will follow in Marburg Memorial Gardens.
