William Brough Krebs
William Brough Krebs, 94, died April 6, 2016 at Cross Keys Village - The Brethren Home Community.
Born on December 27, 1921 in Hanover, he was a son of the late John C. and Katharine Brough Krebs. William was also preceded in death by his wife of 61 years, Nancy Cavett Newsom Krebs, who died in 2012; a brother, Jack Krebs; and a sister, Katharine Davis Taylor.
A registered professional, mechanical engineer, he served his country during World War II aboard the aircraft carrier USS Enterprise as a Lieutenant in the engineering division. He was awarded 13 battle stars.
William was Vice President, General Manager of Keystone Seneca Wire Cloth Company and later purchased the Ronal Tool Company, in York, to stay local. He was a successful entrepreneur. An avid golfer, he was a life time member and past president of the Hanover Country Club. He was a Dauphin Deposit Bank director, President of Hanover Civil Service Commission, past president of the Arcadian Social Club, and life member of Full Gospel Businessmen’s Association. A world traveler, William was a person of great faith. His guiding principals came from Jesus Christ. He loved Hanover, especially the Pigeon Hills. To him, there was no greener grass on earth.
Survivors include two sons, Bruce Krebs, married to Jo-Ann Andriko, MD, of Arlington, VA, and Andrew Krebs, married to Joanne Robertson, MD, of York; three grandchildren, Tom Krebs, Casey Krebs, and Curtis Krebs. Curtis is married to Jade Kim Krebs, are parents of William’s great granddaughter Audrina Krebs.
The funeral will be held at 11 am Monday, April 11, 2016 at the All Saints Episcopal Church, 890 McCosh Street, Hanover with The Rev. Douglas C. Smith officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will be at 1:30 pm at Monday at Mount Olivet Cemetery with military honors being rendered by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Navy-Marine Corps Relief Society, 2212 Chisolm Avenue, Fort Meade, MD 20755.
