William F. Britcher, 85, of Hanover, entered into God’s eternal care on Tuesday, May 11, 2010 at Hanover Hall following a period of declining health.
Born in Hanover on April 19, 1925, he was a son of the late Paul P. and Helen E. Klunk Britcher. He was also preceded in death by an infant sister, Mary Britcher.
In 1943, he graduated from Delone Catholic High School. Following graduation, he worked for his uncle at Klunk Brothers, where he was a carpenter. He was later employed by the United States Postal Service and retired in 1962
He was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, where he was a member of the Knights of Columbus and the Holy Name Society.
Survivors include his brother, Robert L. Britcher and his wife, Roseann of Hanover; a niece, Elizabeth A. Britcher of York and several cousins.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:30 pm Saturday, May 15, 2010 at St. Joseph Catholic Church by The Rev. Joseph F. Gotwalt. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. There will be a time of visitation from 6 to 8 pm Friday, May 14, 2010 at Panebaker Funeral Home, Inc. 311 Broadway, Hanover with a rosary service being held at 8 pm. The family will also receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. Serving as pallbearers will be Charles Britcher, James Britcher, Eugene Chronister, Philip N. Bowman, Michael Staub and Dale Fruchtnicht.
