William P. "Bill" Braun, 88, of New Oxford, beloved husband of Doris Braun, passed away peacefully surrounded by his loving family on Saturday, August 10, 2024 at UPMC West Shore in Mechanicsburg.
Born on Thursday, June 25, 1936 in Baltimore, Maryland, he was the son of the late John and Lillian Koenig Braun. He was also preceded in death by his first wife, Rosemarie Braun; a son, Bob Smith; a brother, John Braun; and a sister, Betty Jean Glock. He was a graduate of City College (MD) High School, was a former employee of Tastykake and later retired from Publix Supermarkets. Bill proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps and was a member of Lazarus United Church of Christ in Lineboro. He loved to bake and had a passion for candy making.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of 54 years, are his children, Debbie (Rob) Durling of Candler, NC, Deb (Augie) Ciresi of Cocoa, FL, Jeff (Debbie) Braun of Cockeysville, MD, Ed (Suzy) Braun of New Port Richey, FL, and Scott (Melissa) Braun of Hanover, PA; grandchildren, April (Charlie)Hodge, Julie (Shawn) Glass, Mark (Tara) Ciresi, Hannah Thompson, Stephanie (Rashad) Brandon, and Jacob Braun; great-grandchildren, Josh, Emily and Nathan Hodge, Charlee Glass, and Gavin Ciresi; and several nieces and nephews.
A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, August 14, 2024 at 11:00 AM at Lazarus United Church of Christ in Lineboro with The Rev. Rodney Gross officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
