Services: A service to celebrate his life will be held 1:00pm Tuesday, April 22, at Mt. Carmel Lutheran Church, Moulstown Road, Hanover . Officiating at the service will be Rev. Larry A. McConnell.
Visitation: A viewing and time to meet with the family will be from noon to 1:00pm at the church.
WILLIAM E. AUCHEY, 73, of Spring Grove, died Thursday, April 17, 2008, at his home. He was the loving husband of Diane M. Feeser Auchey with whom he would have celebrated 55 years of marriage on April 19th. Born on October 16, 1934 in Hanover, he was one of the twelve children of the late Claude L. and Ellen Rodgers Auchey. He is survived by his brothers Fred Auchey of York, Dale Auchey of Dillsburg and Richard Auchey of Abbottstown and his sisters Pearl Resh of York, Betty Glass of Edgegrove and Lena Reichart of Hanover. He was preceded in death by his brothers Norman, Claude, Irvin and Robert Auchey and a sister Thelma Auchey. After attending Eichelberger High School, Mr. Auchey enlisted in the United States Navy and proudly served his country on the USS Franklin D. Roosevelt during the Korean Conflict. He remained in the Naval Reserves until 1959. He had been employed by the Caterpillar company in York for 26 years. In the 1970's, he was the owner of Auchey's Esso on Carlisle Street in Hanover. Most recently he had been employed by the Klondike Ice Cream company. He was a faithful and active member of Mt. Carmel Lutheran Church in Hanover presently serving as the Assistant Superintendent of the Adult Sunday School. He had also served on the church council. As his sons grew up. Mr. Auchey had been a Cub Master for Spring Grove Troop 30 and later a Scout Committeeman for Boy Scout Troop 30. He was also a member of the Menges Mills Horse, Steam and Gas Association, Mason Dixon Historical Society,Inc., American Legion Post #14, VFW Post #2506, the national AARP, and a lifetime member of the Porters Sideling Community Fire Company. In addition to his wife, he will be sadly missed by his sons Gregg A. Auchey and wife Deborah of Gettysburg, and Scott A. Auchey and wife Kathleen of Thomasville; and his grandchildren Chad Auchey, Laura Auchey, Shawn Auchey, Amanda Wildasin and husband Travis, Ben Auchey and fiancee Casey, and Sierra Aquino and husband Jamie. Also near and dear to his heart were his great grandchildren Liliana Auchey, Dylan Wildasin and Jamie Bruce Aquino. His son Bruce A. Auchey preceded him in death on November 22, 2003. A service to celebrate his life will be held 1:00pm Tuesday, April 22, at Mt. Carmel Lutheran Church, Moulstown Road, Hanover . A viewing and time to meet with the family will be from noon to 1:00pm at the church. Burial will be in the church cemetery where full military honors will be provided by the Allied Veterans Council Honor Guard. Officiating at the service will be Rev. Larry A. McConnell. Serving as pallbearers will be Chad Auchey, Shawn Auchey, Ben Auchey, Travis Wildasin, Tim Hurley, and Jamie Aquino.
