Wanda L. Strickhouser, 80, formerly of Littlestown, entered into God’s eternal care on Monday, July 10, 2017 at Transitions Healthcare in Gettysburg.
Born on Sunday, November 8, 1936 in Emmitsburg, MD, she was a daughter of the late Melvin F. and Mary M. Keckler Overholtzer. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Charles A. Strickhouser, who died in 2009 and by 14 brothers and sisters.
Prior to working at All-State Welding as a wire spooler, Wanda worked as a seamstress in various sewing factories. She enjoyed working outside, especially weed whacking. She loved to watch baseball games and was very involved in today’s politics. One of her greatest passions was cooking for her family, where she was credited for making the best fried chicken and bean soup that her family had ever tasted.
Survivors include two daughters, Sherry Kuhn and her husband, Chris, of Hanover and Brenda Brill and her husband, Dennis, of Dover; a granddaughter, Lauren Davis and her husband, James, of Hanover; two great-grandchildren, Cierra and Clayton Davis, both of Hanover; two sisters, Marie Selby of Harney, MD and Janet Kriet of Westminster, MD; a step-daughter, Judy Gladhill and her husband, Mike, of Littlestown; a step-son, Charles Strickhouser and his wife, Rhonda, of Florida; and numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Following cremation, a memorial service will be held at 11am on Thursday, July 13, 2017 at Panebaker Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover with The Rev. Faye Snyder officiating. Burial will follow at Oak Lawn Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
