Wanda T. Sanders, 69, of Hanover, died peacefully on Monday, May 6, 2013 at Hanover Hospital where she entered into God’s eternal care following a lengthy illness.
A daughter of the late Richard W. and Helen A. Keiser Sanders, she was born on October 4, 1943 in Gettysburg and spent her childhood years in Bonneauville before moving to Hanover. A 1961 graduate of Delone Catholic High School, she retired from Homewood at Plum Creek in 2010. She was a member of St. Vincent de Paul Church and was an avid Penn State football fan. Skilled with her hands, she enjoyed making crafts, painting knick-knacks and stitching embroidery. She kept a large collection of rocks given to her by friends and family from their travels all over the world.
She is survived by her two sisters, Mary Elaine Kucs and her husband, Modris of Waynesboro, VA and Beverly S. Kress of Littlestown; five brothers, William B. Sanders and his wife, Rachel of York, Dale J. Sanders of Chevy Chase, MD, F. Wayne Sanders and his wife, Sue of Hanover, Roland R. Sanders of York and Robert H. Sanders of Gettysburg; eight nieces and nephews; 15 great-nieces and nephews, numerous cousins and her two dogs, who she loved unconditionally, Davey and Shane.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am Tuesday, May 14, 2013 at St. Vincent de Paul Church with The Rev. John D. Schmalhofer serving as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Joseph the Worker Catholic Cemetery, Bonneauville. The family will receive friends at the viewing from 9:30 to 10:45 am Tuesday at the church.
