A Memorial Mass will be celebrated at 11 am on Thursday, April 23, 2009 at The Shrine of St. Jude Catholic Church, 12701 Veirs Mill Road in Rockville, MD with The Rev. J. William Hines officiating. A private committal will take place in Gate of Heaven Cemetery on Friday.

Visitation:
There will be no public visitation.
Walter J. “Skip” Ramsey, 64, of Hanover, loving husband to Elizabeth Ann Cassel Ramsey, gently left this world surrounded by his family on Friday, April 17, 2009 at Hanover Hospital.Born on October 30, 1944 in Portsmouth, VA, he was a son of the late Walter and Jean Mannion Ramsey. He was preceded in death by his youngest daughter, Beth Ann Ramsey, who died April 18, 2009. He resided in Rockville, Maryland before moving to Hanover in September 2008. While in Rockville, he served 27 years in the DC Fire Department, retiring from Engine Co.12. He was awarded a Bronze Medal of Heroism for saving a life. He was also a member of the Emerald Society, the Retired Firefighter’s Association and the Sons of the American Legion. He was a member of The Shrine of St. Jude Catholic Church in Rockville and then later Annunciation BVM in McSherrystown, Pa.In addition to his wife of 44 years, he is survived by his daughter, Wendy Ramsey and her dog, Tildi, of Columbia, MD; two sisters, Mary Jean Skinner and her husband, Bob of DE and Rebecca Fanning and her husband, Mark of Glen Rock; two brothers, Mark Ramsey and his wife, Margo of Olney, MD and Michael Ramsey and his wife, Mary of Gaithersburg, MD; and many nieces and nephews from both his and Liz’s sisters and brothers.
