Waldemar J. Lachmann, 90, of Hanover entered into God’s eternal care Friday, August 31, 2012 at Hanover Hall Nursing Center.
Born October 20, 1921 in Germany, he was a son of the late Josef and Maria Preissner Lachmann, and was also preceded in death by his wife, Ingeborg S. Kuhnert Lachmann, a daughter, W. Maria Oaster; and a brother, Hans Lachmann. He retired in 1982 from Black & Decker, where he was a machinist, and was also a cabinet maker for H. H. Crouse for many years. Mr. Lachmann was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church and the National Rifle Association. An avid outdoorsman, he took great pleasure in fishing and hunting.
Survivors include two daughters, Roswitha Geiman of Hanover and Margaret Kallas of Spring Grove; one brother, Leonard Lachmann of Germany; six grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 10 am Thursday, September 6, 2012 at Panebaker Funeral Home, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover with The Rev. Kathryn A. Schroeder officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery. The family will receive friends at a viewing to be held 6-8:00 pm Wednesday at the funeral home.
