W. Eugene “Gene” Geyer, 90 of New Oxford, beloved husband of Julianne Price Geyer, entered into God’s eternal care on Sunday, October 13, 2024 at The Brethren Home Community.
Born on Sunday, November 19, 1933 in Hazelton, he was a son of the late, Wesley Forrester Geyer and Flora Steever Geyer. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Wesley Geyer, Jr., who was killed in action during World War II; and a sister, Lois Hendershot.
Gene was a 1951 graduate of William Penn High School and in 1977, received his Bachelor degree from Temple University and later earned his Master’s degree from Widener University. In 1990, he retired as the Associate Director of Production for Wyeth Labs, Inc., where he had worked for 31 years. He was a US Navy veteran of the Korean War and was a member of Hope Baptist Church in Hanover. In his spare time he made Shaker baskets, played the hammered dulcimer, and enjoyed camping and fishing. He also volunteered with Hanover Hospital for more than 20 years, organ donor awareness, and at Cross Keys Village.
In addition to his wife of more than 39 years, Gene is survived by a daughter, Cindy Guertse and her husband, Scott; a step-daughter, Debby Allen and her husband, Todd; two grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
A service to celebrate Gene’s life will be held at 10:30 AM on Monday, October 21, 2024 at the Nicarry Meetinghouse, 2990 Carlisle Pike in New Oxford. Inurnment will be held privately in the Herndon Cemetery in Herndon, PA.
