D. Vivian Stambaugh, 85, of Hanover entered into eternal rest on Tuesday, September 17, 2013 at Hanover Hall Nursing & Rehabilitation Center. She was the wife of the late J. Eugene Stambaugh, her husband of 44 years who died in 1994.
Born on Monday, May 7, 1928 in Hanover, she was a daughter of the late Richard and Regina (Lawrence) Smith.
Vivian was a homemaker her entire life after marriage. She was a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She had a special place in her heart for dogs. Vivian was a member of St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church.
Survivors include three daughters, Linda M. Donnelly and her husband, John, Barbara A. Brown and her husband, Bruce, and Amy D. Winder; a son, Keith M. Stambaugh and his wife, Patricia, all of Hanover; a sister, Kathleen Neiderer; two brothers, Donald and Raymond Smith; eight grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-granddaughter. In addition to her parents and husband, Vivian was also preceded in death by a great-granddaughter, Mehkiah Shelton; a sister, Constance Neiderer; and three brothers, Robert, Richard and Harold Smith.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 AM Friday, September 20, 2013 at St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church with The Rev. John D. Schmalhofer serving as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Vincent’s Cemetery.
The family will receive friends 6-8:00 PM Thursday at Panebaker Funeral Home, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover, with a prayer service at 8:30 PM.
Serving as pallbearers will be grandsons Mark and Derek Donnelly, Tristan and Colby Winder, and grandsons-in-law Michael Fenwick, Briton Shelton and Eric Calaman.
Memorial contributions in honor of Vivian may be made to St. Vincent dePaul Church, 220 Third Street, Hanover, PA 17331.
