Virginia S. “Stevie” Humbert, 89, of Hanover, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, May 1, 2018.
Born on Sunday, February 3, 1929 in Hanover, she was the daughter of the late William V. and Helen Landis Snyder. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 66 years, David F. Humbert, Jr., who died on May 17, 2016; and a brother, William L. Snyder.
A 1947 graduate of Eichelberger High School, she later attended Harcum College in Bryn Mawr. Stevie was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church and the Hanover Hospital Women’s Auxiliary. She was a past president of the Hanover Area Historical Society and was a proud supporter of the Eichelberger Performing Arts Center. Dedicated to her family, she will be long remembered as a loving wife, wonderful mother and good friend.
Survivors include three sons, David F. Humbert, III of York, Daniel W. Humbert of Bonita Springs, FL, and Thomas M. Humbert of McKinney, TX; and a grandson, Addison T. Humbert of Harrisburg.
A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, May 19, 2018 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church, 30 W. Chestnut Street, Hanover with The Rev. Dr. Daniel M. Yeiser officiating. The family will receive friends immediately following the service. Burial will be held privately at Rest Haven Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
