Valerie J. Herdock

Valerie J. Herdock, 82, of York, passed away peacefully on Saturday, June 24, 2023 at Normandie Ridge Nursing Care Center in York with her loving family by her side.

Born on Tuesday, June 17, 1941 in Baltimore, she was a daughter of the late Francis Theadore Clemens and Frances Mary Scholtz Clemens. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 55 years, Andrew J. Herdock, Jr., who passed away in 2015; and her siblings, whom she greatly missed, Clyde Clemens, Dale McGowan and Laurali Fendt. She met her future husband, Andrew, at the age of 12, when he moved across the street from where she was living at the time. Val worked as an administrator for the Federal Reserve Bank for 40 years and later worked part time for Miller Motors until officially retiring and moving to Florida. She will always be remembered for her kindness and thoughtfulness, and for her sense of humor, laughing and joking around with her family and friends.

Survivors include her daughter, Laura Miller and her husband William; a grandson, whom she considered the biggest joy of her life, Bradley Miller and his partner, Leah Carlson; sisters-in-law, Diane Clemens and Patty Jo McGowan; her nieces, nephews, cousins and friends, whom she dearly loved; and her “fur baby”, Chloe, whom she called Precious.

A service to celebrate her life will be held at a later date.

The family would like to thank the staff at Normandie Ridge and White Rose Hospice for taking such good care of Val.
