Thomas J. Miller, 60, of Hanover, PA formerly of New York, entered into God’s eternal care 4:10 a.m. Tuesday morning, June 3, 2008, at his home. He was the loving husband of Lynne Schuldt Miller to whom he was married over 18 years. Born in New York City, NY on July 28, 1947, he was the son of Theresa Jordan Miller of Newtown, PA and the late Frederick H. Miller, Jr. Mr. Miller retired in 2002 as the First Deputy Superintendent of New York State Department of Correction after 32 years of service. During his career with New York State he also served as a Health Insurance Investigator, Counselor, a Bus Driver Under Cover Civil Rights Investigator, a Steward Administrative Deputy, and as a D.S.A. He had also been a teacher, writer and friend to many. Highly educated, Mr. Miller earned a PHd from John Jay College of City University in Criminal Justice as well as a Master’s degree in Public Administration, from Syracuse University he received a Master’s degree in Counseling, and a Batchelor’s degree in Political Science from Long Island University Southhampton Campus. Mr. Miller was a member of the American Corrections Association and Hoffman Lodge No.412 F.&A.M., New York. In addition to his wife and mother he is survived by, two daughters Laurel Jones, Deborah Wigman, two stepchildren Captain Gregory Minetos, Staff Sgt. Lisa Levick, four grandchildren Skye, Sierra, Clay, Olivia, a brother Timothy Miller and a sister Marian Miller. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held at the convenience of the family.
