Thomas S. Meyer, Sr., 74, of Hanover, beloved husband of Elizabeth A. (Weinhold) Meyer, entered into God’s eternal care on Monday, November 18, 2024 at his home.
Born on Sunday, January 22, 1950 in Baltimore, he was a son of the late James B. Meyer, Sr. and Rose V. (Cugle) Meyer. He was also preceded in death by a son, Steven D. Ross, who died in 2018.
Tom was a 1968 graduate of Mount St. Joseph High School in Baltimore and later attended the University of Maryland Baltimore County. He retired in 2023 from a job he truly enjoyed at Delone Catholic High School, and had previously worked at the USDA Plant Introduction Station in Glendale, MD, the US National Arboretum in Washington, DC and spent some time as a gardener at the Grotto at Mount St. Mary’s for The Rev. Msgr. Hugh Phillips. A member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Tom was devoted to the Blessed Mother and loved his Delone family. He was a licensed tree expert, enjoyed gardening and landscaping, and playing the guitar, a skill he taught himself. Tom will be long remembered as a hard working, prayerful husband and father. He will be greatly missed.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of 41 years, are two children, Jessica L. Gallagher and her husband, Jeremy, of Hanover and Thomas S. Meyer, Jr. of Lititz; two grandchildren, Adalynn R. Gallagher and Declan T. Gallagher; a brother, James B. Meyer, Jr. and his wife, Emily, of Elkridge, MD; and several nieces and nephews.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11 AM on Monday, November 25, 2024 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Hanover.
