Thelma M. Moore, 95, of Hanover, entered into God’s eternal care Monday, May 7, 2012 at Hanover Hospital.
Born September 1, 1916 in Dragon, Utah, she was a daughter of the late Charles E. and Edna L. Grant Spedden. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 40 years, Dr. J. Raymond Moore, who died in 1983; and by two brothers, Ivan and Arthur Spedden; and one sister, Helen Spedden.
Mrs. Moore was an active member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and was a former employee of The Gloria Shop. She was a volunteer with Meals on Wheels and was occasionally a substitute teacher at St. Joseph School. She took great pleasure in doing needlepoint.
Survivors include her son, Clifford E. Chapman and his wife, Lucille, of Hanover; five grandchildren, Debra K. Rowland of Towson, MD, Joseph R. Chapman of Hampstead, MD, Clifford E. Chapman, II of Chesapeake, VA, Laura L. Chapman-Breshears of Gig Harbor, WA, and Daniel G. Chapman of Maui, HI; four great-grandchildren, Stewart S. Rowland of Philadelphia, Amanda M. Chapman of Suffolk, VA, and Karissa and Jaydon Chapman of Maui, HI; one brother, Roy Spedden of Rocklin, CA; and one sister, Ethel Scott of Turlock, CA.
A memorial mass will be said at 11:00 am Friday, May 25, 2012 at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 5125 Grandview Road, Hanover with The Rev. Joseph F. Gotwalt serving as celebrant. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Cemetery. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Homewood at Plum Creek Benevolent Fund, 425 Westminster Avenue, Hanover, PA 17331.
