Solomon Miller, Jr., 92, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at his daughter’s residence surrounded by his loving family on what would have been his 70th wedding anniversary.
Born on Monday, January 6, 1930 in York County, he was a son of the late Solomon Miller, Sr. and Lottie May Rohrbaugh Miller. He was also preceded in death by his loving wife of 68 years, Ann Grace Garrett Miller, who died in 2020; four brothers, Stewart, Lester, Harry and Maurice Miller; and five sisters, Shirley Miller, Beatrice Mohr, Helen Aughenbaugh, Anna Miller and Betty Wright.
Solomon was a veteran of the United States Army where he served as a sergeant in the Korean War and received two Bronze Stars. He retired from PH Glatfelter where he was a materials handler for 45 years. A lifetime member of St. Paul’s (Dubs) Union Church, he actively volunteered for many church activities. He was also a member of the Jefferson Rifle Club and was a PAL volunteer, serving lunches for the Hanover Council of Churches. Solomon loved to travel and drove across the country three times to visit family. He will be long remembered for being a loving father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
Survivors include three children, Cynthia “Cindy” Reynolds and her husband, Patrick, Diane McAfee, all of York, and Christopher Miller and his partner, Trey Raulerson, of Ft. Myers, FL; three grandchildren, Nichole, Danielle, and Evan; three great granddaughters, Natalee, Harper, and Kendall; two brothers, Glenn Miller and his wife, Janet, and Eugene “Tom” Miller; two sisters, Artella “Kitty” Cool, and Mary Bollinger and her husband, Ken; many nieces and nephews; his dear friends, Dean and Jean Boyer; and his beloved morkie, Ernie.
A viewing will be held on Sunday, April 10, 2022 from 2-4 PM at Panebaker Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Inc. 311 Broadway. A graveside service will be held on Monday, April 11, 2022 at 1 p.m. at St. Paul’s (Dubs) Church Cemetery with The Rev. Susan E. Fritz officiating.
