Shirley Jeanette Howard, 85, of Hanover, beloved wife of James L. Howard, entered into God’s eternal care on Thursday, June 2, 2016 at Cross Keys Village – The Brethren Home Community.
Born on Thursday, July 17, 1930 in Indian Head, MD, she was a daughter of the late Homer and Eunice Speak Throop. She was a member of Trinity Church of the Nazarene in Hanover. A loving wife, mother and grandmother, she will be remembered as being a hard working, energetic worker who loved to support her family. She enjoyed going shopping and having her hair and nails done.
Surviving, in addition to her husband of 63 years, are five children, Carla J. Bopst and her husband, Louis, of Sykesville, MD, Roberta A. McLain and her husband, Paul, of Fall City, WA, G. Michael Howard and his wife, Jeannette, and James C. Howard, all of Hanover, and Craig S. Howard and his wife, Tracy, of York; ten grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and a sister, Pauline Wenger of Myrtle Beach, SC.
A funeral will be held at 1 pm Tuesday, June 7, 2016 at Panebaker Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover with The Rev. Gerald R. Dunlap officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery.
The family will receive friends at viewings to be held from 6 to 8 pm Monday and 12 to 1 pm Tuesday at the funeral home.
