Services: The funeral will be held 10:30am Wednesday at Panebaker Funeral Home, 311 Broadway in Hanover. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery with military graveside rites being conducted by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
Visitation: The viewing will be from 6 to 8 pm Tuesday evening at the funeral home.
Sheldon A. Stump, 99, of Hanover, husband of Arlus A. Stump, was called by God on Sunday, September 27, 2009 from Cross Keys Village—The Brethren Home Community.Born on December 3, 1909 in Lancaster, he was the son of the late Chester and Frances “Fannie” Hoover Stump. He was preceded in death by two previous wives, Dorothy H. Long Stump and Mary E. Gable Stump. A 1928 graduate of Bainbridge High School in Lancaster County, he later served as corporal in the United States Army during World War II. In 1974, he retired from Dentsply in York, where he had been employed as an electrician. He was a member of the Hanover Standardbred Barbershop Chorus, the Hanover Antique Auto Club and a former member of First United Methodist Church in Lancaster.In addition to his wife of thirteen years, he is survived by his daughter, Sylvia S. Geiselman of Cross Keys Village-The Brethren Home Community; a step-son, Gregory S. Alwine of Glenville; a step-daughter, Barbara Y. Wilkinson of Gettysburg; a granddaughter, Carol Dehoff; two great-grandchildren, Thomas and Benjamin Dehoff, all of Spring Grove and several step-grandchildren and step-great-grandchildren.
