Shane Peters, 54, of Hanover, husband of Debra D’Esposito Peters, died unexpectedly on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at his home.
Born on Friday, June 5, 1970 in Binghamton, NY, he was a son of the late Robert Lee Peters, Sr. and Lucretia Anne Beadle Peters. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Dana A. Peters and a nephew, Christopher Peters, II. He spent his career in the construction industry as a heavy equipment operator.
A cold weather enthusiast, he loved to snowmobile, and spend time hunting in Potter County, PA. He was an avid Pittsburgh Steelers fan and enjoyed working on cars and bowling on the Wii. He was a member of the McSherrystown Home Association, the AmVets Post #22, and could often be found at The Hanover Hotel sharing a drink with a friend or calling someone by a nickname that he had given them. He had a heart of gold but could sometimes stir the pot.
In addition to his wife of almost 24 years, he is survived by three stepdaughters, Kim Myer of Hanover, Jamie Myers of Mechanicsburg and Melissa Mummert and her husband, Shawn, of Gettysburg; a stepson, Jason Myer of Hanover; a sister, Jodie Stambaugh of Hanover; four brothers, Robert Peters, Jr. and his wife, Dawn, of Hanover, Todd Peters of Willet, NY, Christopher Peters and his wife, Lesa Hardy, of Chambersburg, and Wade Peters of Hanover; eleven grandchildren, two great-grandsons and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends from 2 to 4 pm on Saturday, June 27, 2024 at Panebaker Funeral Home, 311 Broadway in Hanover.
