Dr. Samuel A. Conway, D.C., 98, of Hanover, entered into God’s eternal care on Tuesday, June 30, 2015 at Hanover Hospital.
Born on Friday, January 19, 1917 in Dallastown, he was a son of the late Clarence C. and Coletta Smith Conway. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 66 years, Irene M. Runkle Conway, who died in 2011. He was a 1934 graduate of Dallastown High School, received his undergraduate degree in Pre-Medicine from Lebanon Valley College, and was a 1951 graduate of the National College of Chiropractic in Chicago, IL. A veteran of World War II, he served with the US Army Air Corps Signal Corp detachment.
Dr. Conway operated his chiropractic practice in Hanover for 32 years before retiring in 1982. He also served as chairman of the board of the former Golden Age Nursing Home, which is now Hanover Hall. He was a member of St. Paul’s (Dubs) Union Church, Patmos Lodge #348 F&AM, Hanover Elks BPOE #763, Hanover VFW Post # 2506 and the Hanover Chapter of the AARP #1842. He served on the Board of Trustees of the National College of Chiropractic, was a past President of the local Chiropractic Association, and was listed in “Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare”.
Survivors include his son, Samuel A. Conway, Jr. and his wife, Wanda; two granddaughters, Amber Rose Conway Bowers and Casey Marie Conway; and two great-granddaughters, McKenna and Emma Bowers.
The funeral will be held at 2 pm Tuesday, July 7, 2015 at St. Paul’s (Dubs) Union Church with The Rev. Larry M. Estepp officiating. Burial will follow in St. Paul’s (Dubs) Church Cemetery with military honors being rendered by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at a viewing to be held from 6 to 8 pm Monday at Panebaker Funeral Home, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Paul’s (Dubs) Union Church, 1958 Dubs Church Road, Hanover, PA 17331.
