Samuel J. “Sambo” Anderson, 72, of Hanover died peacefully on Thursday, November 24, 2016 at home surrounded by his family. He was the husband of Victoria Kuhn Anderson, his wife of 21 years with whom he shared 35 years of his life.
Born on Thursday, June 22, 1944 in Hanover, he was a son of the late Melvin and Mary Roberts Anderson. He was also preceded in death by a son, Michael Anderson; two sisters, Jean Small and Helen Weaver; and his brother, James Anderson.
Samuel retired from Lawrence Subaru as an automobile mechanic. He was a member of McSherrystown Fish and Game Association and Goofy’s Association. He loved fishing, gardening, hunting and spending time with family and friends. He was particularly fond of his grandson, Beckham, who he had nicknamed “Gilbert”.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, is a son, Justin Anderson and his wife, Amanda; and his daughter, Kathi Dietrich, all of Hanover; three grandsons, Beckham Anderson, and Nate and Josh Dietrich; three sisters, Betty Jo Anderson, Wanda Whitson and Brenda Keller and her husband, James, all of Hanover; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Following cremation, a service will be held privately at the convenience of the family.
