Sadie S. "Sally" Rafferty

Sadie S. “Sally” Rafferty, 78, of Glenville, entered into God’s eternal care to join her husband, Joe, on Sunday, October 1, 2023. She was comfortable and peaceful at home in her own room. As she left us, she was being kissed and held close by her loving daughter, Debra. She was also surrounded by her only son, Joseph, along with their spouses, John and Maureen.

Born on Wednesday, September 26, 1945 in Brooklyn, NY, she was a daughter of the late William and Margaret Buchanan Walters. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Joseph Rafferty, who died on August 10, 2022; a grandson, Geraldo “Jerry” Palacios; and her five siblings. Sally was a retired employee of Treasure Greetings in Lindenhurst, NY with more than 20 years of service. She adopted her husband’s Catholic faith and was a believer. She enjoyed playing BINGO, card games, slot machines and going to the movies. Win or lose, Sally was joyful. She had the most amazing smile and beautiful twinkling blue eyes. Moreover, she will be long remembered as a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother.

Survivors include her five children, Donna Rafferty, Jeannette Adames, Debra Zamarelli and her husband, John, Joseph Rafferty, Jr. and his wife, Maureen, and Margaret Rafferty; as well as 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

Services will be private.
