Services:
The funeral will be held at 11am on Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at St. Matthew Lutheran Church with the Rev. Dr. Daniel Yeiser officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery.
Visitation: The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 pm on Tuesday evening at Panebaker Funeral Home as well as one hour prior to the service at the church.
S. Raymond Hiner, Jr., 83, of Hanover, entered into God’s eternal care on Sunday, September 21, 2008 at Hanover Hospital. Born December 17, 1924 in Baltimore, MD, he was a son of the late Sylvester R. Hiner, Sr. and Ardelia Falls Hiner. He was also preceded in death by two sisters, Adele Perkins and Velma Robinson. Formerly of Pikesville, MD, he moved to Hanover, PA 41 years ago.Mr. Hiner retired from National Can Corporation in 1983 after 42 years of service. He was a member of the Hanover Benevolent and Protective Order of the Elks Hanover Lodge #763 and a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church where he served on the Church Council and actively within the ministries of the church. He enjoyed traveling, playing golf, and swimming. He was an avid sportsfan with his favorites being the Baltimore Orioles and the Colts. Survivors include his wife of 41 years, Joan Hiner; two children, Raymond C. Hiner of Hanover and Jacquelyn Butler and her fiancé Hugh Otterson of Manchester, MD; two grandsons, Jon Hiner and his wife, Elisa of Arizona and James Butler, Jr. of Manchester, MD; two great-grandchildren, Reanna Borschel and Tony Kellar; a daughter-in-law, Beth Rusinko and her husband, Michael of New Oxford; a sister-in-law, Shirl Wendler and her husband Bob of Hanover and several nieces and nephews.
