Ruthetta Laughman, 89, entered into God’s eternal care on Wednesday, November 27, 2013, from Homewood at Plum Creek in Hanover.
Born Monday, November 3, 1924, in Hanover, she was a daughter of the late Joseph D. and Lillie I. (Cole) Caler and was the wife of the late Roy M. Laughman, who died in January of 1995. She was also preceded in death by five sisters, Mary Kathryn Caler, Mildred Isabelle Caler, Dorothy Louise Caler Holland, Juene Elizabeth Caler and Lilly Mae Caler Fogel; and three brothers Levere Clayton Caler, Sterling Edwin Caler and Joseph Daniel Caler.
Mrs. Laughman was employed by Hanover House Industries until 1976, spending her recent years as a homemaker and member of Emmanuel United Church of Christ. She loved Big Band Era music, gardening, needlepoint, and reading scripture.
She is survived by her daughters Carole A. Rhoten and husband, Ed Rohrbaugh, of Seven Valleys, and Susan R. Davis and her husband, Edward, of Fort Myers, Fl.; two grandchildren, Michelle M. Miller of Red Lion, and Matthew A. Davis of Fort Myers; and great-granddaughter Morgan R. Miller of Seven Valleys.
At Mrs. Laughman’s request, there will be no viewing. A graveside service will be held at Rest Haven Cemetery on Tuesday, December 3, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Joel B. Hummel officiating and Chaplain Intern Christina Fidanza assisting.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Homewood at Plum Creek Benevolence Fund, 425 Westminster Ave., Hanover, PA 17331.
