Russell E. Garvick, 84, of Hanover, beloved husband of Nancy V. Trump Garvick, entered into God’s eternal care on Friday, October 7, 2022 at Homewood at Plum Creek.
Born on Monday, January 3, 1938 in Lineboro, MD, he was the son of the late Hilbert Russell Garvick and Ruby Meckley Garvick. A 1957 graduate of Eichelberger High School, he was employed by the former Hanover Wire Cloth for 45 years. Later, Russell worked as an assistant greenskeeper for the Hanover Country Club for 13 years, retiring at the age of 80. He proudly served his country in the Army National Guard and was a member of The Church of the Good Shepherd. An avid outdoorsman, Russell enjoyed hunting and fishing and was a member of the McSherrystown Fish and Game Association, where he played cards every morning.
In addition to his wife of 65 years, he is survived by a son, Jerry Garvick and his wife, Brenda, of Harrisburg; a grandson, Russell Allen Garvick and his wife, Jessi; and two great-grandchildren, Ryan Jeffrey Garvick and Alexis Jade Garvick, all of Dauphin.
The funeral will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, October 12, 2022 at Panebaker Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover with Pastor Jeffrey C. Reaver, Sr. officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery. The family will receive friends at a viewing to be held one hour prior to the service.
