Services: The funeral will be held at 11 am on Tuesday, April 28, 2009 at St. Bartholomew United Church (ECLA) with The Rev. Steven E. Thomas and The Rev. Larry A. McConnell officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers will be Sidney Krebs, Marlin Garvick, Gregory Garvick, Kenneth Krebs, Donnie Meckley and Russell Allen Garvick.
Visitation: There will be a time of viewing one hour prior to the service at the church.
RUBY K. GARVICK, HanoverRuby K. Garvick, 92, entered into God’s eternal care on Friday, April 24, 2009 at The Cross Keys Village Brethren Home Community.Born on October 4, 1916 in Hanover, she was the daughter of Henry and Lizzie Kopp Meckley. She was also the loving wife of 71 years to the late Hilbert R. Garvick, who died December 12, 2008 and the sister of the late Donald Meckley, Sr., Grace Hindel and Nova Krebs. She was employed for 30 years with Freeman Shoe as an inspector and was a member of the Friendship Fire Company. She was a devoted member of St. Bartholomew United Church ECLA, serving as Sunday School teacher for over 25 years and as financial secretary for over 35 years.Survivors include her son, Russell E. Garvick and his wife, Nancy of Hanover; a grandson, Jerry Garvick and his wife, Brenday of Linglestown; a great-grandson, Russell Allen Garvick and his wife, Jessi and a great-great-grandson, Ryan Jeffrey Garvick, all of Dauphin.
Memorials: Memorial contributions may be made in her name to St. Bartholomew United Church (ECLA) 1204 Grand Valley Road, Hanover, PA 1733, to the Cross Keys Village Brethren Home Community Good Samaritan Fund, 2990 Carlisle Pike, New Oxford, PA 17350 or to the Lutheran Home Hospice.1075 Old Harrisburg Road, Gettysburg, PA 17325.
