Robert L. Zumbrum, 89, of Hanover, passed on to Glory on Monday, June 27, 2022 at Homewood at Plum Creek Retirement Center following a brief illness.
Born on Monday, April 24, 1933 in Hanover, he was a son of the late Edward W. and Lydia Worley Zumbrum. He was also preceded in death by his wife of 54 years, Nancy L. Zumbrum, who died in 2013; a son, Mark D. Zumbrum who died in 2008; a sister, Mildred Eichelberger; and brothers, Raymond, Earl, Melvin and Claude Zumbrum. Bob proudly served his country in the US Navy for four years, and was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Hanover. He had also been a member of the Harold H. Bair American Legion Post #14, AmVets Post #22 and the Hanover Elks BPOE #763. In 1995, Bob retired from Utz Quality Foods where he spent most of his working career. He was a dedicated Orioles fan who loved his family and the nursing staff at Homewood at Plum Creek.
Survivors include a sister, Betty Gordon and her husband, Dale, of Hanover; a daughter-in-law, Wendy Shaffer Zumbrum; two granddaughters, Dana Zumbrum, and Crystal Cronin and her husband, Ryan; and a great-granddaughter, Charlotte Cronin, all of Virginia Beach, VA.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 PM Saturday, July 2, 2022 at Rest Haven Cemetery, at the intersection of Boundary and Westminster Avenues in Hanover, with The Rev. Dr. B. Michael Brossman officiating. Military honors will be rendered by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
