Robert C. Wildasin, 92, of Hanover, entered into God’s eternal care on Sunday, January 18, 2015 at the Lutheran Retirement Village at Utz Terrace.
Born Thursday, July 20, 1922 in Hanover, he was a son of the late Raymond and Ruth Naugle Wildasin. He was also preceded in death by his wife of nearly 50 years, Geraldine A. Slagle Wildasin, who died in 1998; and two sisters, Charlotte Staub and Mary Anthony.
Mr. Wildasin was a retired employee of Schindler Elevator and was a member of Trinity United Church of Christ. He was a US Army veteran of World War II serving from February 24, 1943 to December 30, 1945. He was very proud to have been a member of Merrill’s Marauders having fought in China and Burma. Among his numerous decorations and citations, he received the Purple Heart with one Oak Leaf Cluster, the China Memorial and the Distinguished Unit Badges, the American Campaign and Good Conduct Medals, and the Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal with four Bronze Stars.
Survivors include his daughter, Patricia A. Little and her husband, Charles; a grandson, Shawn Little; and a brother, Donald Wildasin, all of Hanover.
The funeral will be held at 11 am Wednesday, January 21, 2015 at Panebaker Funeral Home, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover with The Rev. Peg Grzelkowski officiating. Burial will be in Rest Haven Cemetery with military honors being rendered by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Lutheran Retirement Village at Utz Terrace, 2100 Utz Terrace, Hanover, PA 17331.
