Services: A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held 10:00 A.M. Thursday morning at Panebaker Funeral Home, 311 Broadway, Hanover.
Visitation: Visitation will be Thursday morning from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home.
Robert M. Snyder, 80, of Hanover entered into God's eternal care 2:55 P.M. Tuesday afternoon, April 3, 2007, at Hanover Hospital. He was the husband of the late Jean P. Weaver Snyder who died November 28, 2006. Born in Hanover on May 13, 1926, he was the son of the late George Maurice and Anna G. Ohm Snyder. Following his education at Delone Catholic High School, Bob was hired as a Greenhouse worker at Cremer Florist. In 1944, at the age of 18, he was called to serve his country during World War II. He joined the Army and as a Private First Class served with the famous 42nd Rainbow Division, Co. G, 242nd Infantry Regiment as a Light Machine Gunner in the European Theater. PFC Snyder served with honor and pride in the campaigns for the Rhineland and Central Europe. For his bravery, he was awarded the combat infantryman badge, Rhineland and Central Europe medal with two bronze service stars and the Army of Occupation medal. Pfc Snyder served eight years in the Army before returning to Hanover. Upon his return, he went back to work at Cremer Florist before accepting a postion at Black & Decker in Hampstead, MD where he retired from after many years of employment. He was a member of St. Vincent dePaul Catholic Church also the Hanover Veterans of Foreign Wars, Hanover American Legion Post #14 and a life member of the Hanover Moose. He will be sadly missed by his son R. Michael and wife Susan Snyder of Hanover. Preceding him in death was also a son Christopher E. Snyder, a brother Henry J. Snyder and a sister Emma E. Snyder. A memorial service to celebrate his life will be held 10:00 A.M. Thursday morning at Panebaker Funeral Home, 311 Broadway, Hanover. Visitation will be Thursday morning from 9:00 to 10:00 A.M. at the funeral home. Rev. John A. Szada, Jr. will officiate. Burial will be at St. David's Cemetery with military honors by the Allied Veterans Honor Guard. Memorial contributions may be made to Hanover Hall, 267 Frederick St., Hanover, PA 17331.
