Robert V. Rynard

Robert Vink Rynard, 94, of Hanover, passed away Saturday, September 12, 2015 at Hanover Hall.



Born on Monday, December 6, 1920 in Carlisle, he was a son of the late Anson E. and Sarah Mohler Rynard and husband of 37 years to the late M. Virginia Howells Rynard, who died in 2002. The last of his family, he was preceded in death by five brothers, John, George, Eugene, William and Lee Rynard and two sisters, Mary Finkey and Martha Kingsborough.



A veteran of the United States Army, he served during World War II and saw action during the Battle of the Bulge. He was formerly employed by Joe the Motorists’ Friend in Hanover and later was co-owner of Howells and Rynard Hardware in York Springs for 20 years.



He attended St. Mark Evangelical Lutheran Church, where he had been active with the Girl Scout troops with his wife. He was also a member of the Hanover Elks B.P.O.E. Lodge #7209 and a life member of the York Springs Fire Co. #1. He enjoyed hunting deer and small game, fishing, bowling and gardening. His greatest desire was spending time with his family.



He is survived by a large family of nieces and nephews.



The funeral will be held 11 am on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at Panebaker Funeral Home, 311 Broadway, Hanover with The Rev. Kirk A. Griffin officiating. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery with military graveside rites being rendered by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at a viewing one hour prior to the service.
