Robert L. Frock, of Hanover, the husband of Joan F. Frock, died Saturday, February 11, 2023 at Homewood of Plum Creek.
Bob was born July 22, 1935 in Hanover, and was the son of the late David L. and Corrine Thomas Frock. He was a member of St. Mark’s Evangelical Lutheran Church in Hanover and was a 1953 graduate of Eichelberger High School.
Bob loved all sports – participating, as well as, urging on his favorite teams. In school, he played on the basketball and baseball teams, and was proud to be a member of the Nighthawk basketball team that won the 1952 South Penn Championship. After high school, he played baseball on the Stoverstown and Jefferson, Greater York County League teams. In 1956, he signed with the Washington Senators to play as a pitcher for the Florida State League in Orlando, and in 1958, he was drafted and served with the US Army. After three years, he returned to Hanover and worked in the Production Department Office at Hanover Shoe Company retiring after 36 years. Bob also enjoyed his hobbies of ceramics and toy train collecting. He was a member of the Homewood Train Group as well as a member of the National Train Collectors Association.
In addition to his wife of 61 years, Bob is survived by two nephews, David A. Frock and his wife, Sarajane, of Marietta, Ohio, and John F. Lingg and his wife, Lindy, of Hanover; two nieces, Carol L. Connor, and her husband, John, of Hanover, and Susan L. Werling and her husband, Eric, of Purcellville, VA.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his brother, William A. Frock and his many pets especially his very favorite dog buddy, Winnie.
Per his wishes, there will be a private gathering with family at a later date.
