Robert D. Cramer, 79, husband of Suzanne Laura Goodfellow Cramer, passed away peacefully at his home in Hanover, Friday, May 10, 2013.
Born May 30, 1933 in Manheim Township, York County, he was the son of the late Lawrence A. and Alice Thoman Cramer. He was also preceded in death by his brother; Lawrence Z. Cramer, sister; Virginia Williams, and granddaughter, Alicia Cramer.
A 1950 graduate of Codorus Township High School, he served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He retired from ESAB in 1999 with 30 years of service. Robert was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, Amvets Post #22, AARP, and United Auto Workers Local #1968 all in Hanover. He enjoyed reading, gardening and going to auctions.
In addition to his loving wife of 60 years, he is survived by 4 children; Jeffrey D. Cramer, and his wife Sharon, Jane Ellen Alwine, and her husband Terry, Thomas G. Cramer, and his wife April, all of Hanover, and Robert D. Cramer II, and his wife Tangie, of Spring Grove; sister, Henrietta Krenzer, and her husband Harry, of Orange, VA; 15 grandchildren; Christopher, Bryan, and Heather Cramer, Raun Cramer, Brenna Fry, Keeley Cramer, Daniel Cramer, Tori and Cheyenne Krout, Jamie Cramer, Corey, Noah, Andrew and Cody Myers, and Ellen Miller; and 14 great-grandchildren.
A memorial service will be 2:00pm on Saturday, May 18, 2013 at Grace United Methodist Church, 55 Albright Drive, Hanover, with The Rev. Richard D. Smith officiating. Burial will follow in St. Jacobs (Stone) Cemetery with military honors being rendered by, the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church. The family requests that those attending the service dress casually.
