Robert L. “Bob” Britcher, 84, of Hanover, loving husband of Roseann Niedererr entered into God’s eternal care on Wednesday, February 21, 2018 at his home.
Born on Tuesday, May 16, 1933 in Hanover, he was a son of the late Paul Parks Britcher and Helen Elizabeth Klunk Britcher. He was also preceded in death by an infant sister, Mary, and a brother William F. Britcher. A 1951 graduate of Delone Catholic High School, he later attended Penn State University – York Campus. He served with the US Army during the Korean War and was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church where he was a Eucharistic Minister, was a member of the Holy Name Society and was also active within the church by serving on many committees.
Bob was a self employed building contractor with Klunk Brothers Builders for 20 years and was later a Housing Rehabilitation Monitor with the York County Planning Commission for 15 years. He was a member of Hanover Council #871 Knights of Columbus where he was a past Grand Knight, Trustee and Historian for the 75th anniversary. He was also a First Faithful Navigator and a Trustee of the Father Cyril J. Allwein General Assembly. He was a longtime member of the Hanover Elks BPOE #763 and the Hanover Kiwanis Club, where he served as President in the 1987-88 club year. He was presented the 1988-89 William H. Menges Memorial Award for outstanding community service by the Kiwanis club.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of 55 years, is his daughter, Elizabeth A. Britcher, his “adopted” daughter, Lori Hoke, both of Hanover, and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 11 am Saturday, February 24, 2018 at St. Joseph Catholic Church with The Rev. Msgr. James M. Lyons celebrating. Burial will follow in St. Joseph’s Cemetery. The family will receive friends at viewings to be held from 6 to 8 pm Friday at Panebaker Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday.
