Robert C. Alderton, 83, of Hanover, entered into God’s eternal care Friday, December 28, 2012 at Hanover Hospital.
Born May 31, 1929 in Lay Hill, MD, he was a son of the late O. Herman and Mary Brumback Alderton. He was the husband of the late Susan A. Alderton, who died in 2000; and was also preceded in death by a daughter, Judy Lynn Hunsicker; and a sister, Eva Marie Alderton. Mr. Alderton was a retired bus driver for the Mass Transit Association in Baltimore and later worked for Weis Markets in Hanover for more than ten years. He was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church (York Street) and served with the US Army during the Korean War.
Survivors include his son, Rick Alderton and his wife, Danielle, of Hanover; a daughter, Robin Mock and her husband, Barry, of Leonardtown, MD; a son-in-law, Keith Hunsicker of Waynesboro; two brothers, Leroy Alderton and his wife, Poppy, of Timonium, MD and Vernon Alderton and his wife, Brenda, of Hagerstown, MD; and several grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be held at 11:00 am Thursday, January 3, 2013 at Panebaker Funeral Home, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover with The Rev. David Denham officiating. Burial will follow in Rest Haven Cemetery with military honors rendered by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at a viewing from 10-11:00 am Thursday at the funeral home.
