Richard Alan West, 63, of Manchester, husband of Bonnie L. Mummert West, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at St. Luke’s Hospital in Bethlehem.
Born on June 8, 1950 in Dallas, Texas, he was a son of the late Harold Russey West and Ruth Ellen Blackmon West. He was also preceded in death by a daughter Amber L. West.
Richard was a 1968 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas. He also attended the University of North Texas in the class of 1972. He began his career in business management and transitioned into transportation. His current employment was with B& B Trucking Services, which is now A&S Services Group. He maintained his membership with Munger Place United Methodist Church in Dallas.
Richard lived life for his family and close friends. For those who knew him, they know that he always put them before himself. He enjoyed listening to a wide variety of music, loved to travel and cook with his family. Richard always had a witty remark behind his mustache, in which he was known for.
In addition to his wife of nearly 10 years, he is survived by his sons, Russey West of Houston, TX and Seth Barton of Seven Valleys; a sister, Susan Elizabeth West of York, nieces and nephews and his puppy, Campbell.
A memorial service will be held at New Creations Community Church, 3005 Emig Mill Road, Dover PA, on Saturday, June 15, at 2-6pm with The Rev. Catherine Boileau officiating.
