Richard E. Sheely
Richard E. Sheely, 76, of New Oxford, entered into God’s eternal care on Wednesday, January 7, 2015 at Spring Creek Health Care Center in Harrisburg.
Born on Thursday, May 12, 1938 in Hanover, he was a son of the late Melvin P. and Marie Louey Sheely. He was also preceded in death by a sister, Dorothy Utz and a brother, Robert Sheely. Mr. Sheely retired from Bethlehem Steel after 25 years of service. He attended Harvest Time Temple and had a great love for cats.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Mary L. Hake Sheely; six children, Richard Eugene Sheely, Jr. and his wife, Adriana, of Palm Beach, FL, Sharon Louise Light and her husband, David, Terry Lee Sheely and his wife, Nancy, all of New Oxford, Diane Elizabeth Spurlock and her husband, William, of Abbottstown, David Bryon Sheely of New Oxford, and Lisa Ann Rentzel, and her husband, Michael, of York; a sister, Betty Jane Howe and her husband, Luther, of Gettysburg; 13 grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.
The funeral will be held at 10 am Monday, January 12, 2015 at Panebaker Funeral Home, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover with The Rev. Fred Mummert officiating. Burial will be in Marburg Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends at a viewing from 4 to 6 pm Sunday at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Harvest Time Temple, PO Box 218, Hanover, PA 17331.
