Richard F. “Dick” Sell, 82, of Hanover, passed away on Wednesday, November 22, 2017 at Hanover Hall Nursing Center.
Born on Friday, March 29, 1935 in Hanover, he was a son of the late William E. Sell, Sr. and Catherine Forry Sell. He was a 1953 graduate of Eichelberger High School and retired, after many years of service, from the former Alloy Rods Corporation where he worked in the quality control department.
Dick served with the US Army in post war Korea. He later marched in the inaugural parade for President John F. Kennedy with the Gettysburg US Army Reserve unit. He loved being outdoors and was an avid hunter and fisherman. He also made many trips to visit the western United States, but especially loved going to the family cabin in Potter County. Dick was a member of the York-Adams Game and Fish Association, United Sportsmen of Pennsylvania, Pennsylvania Heritage Foundation, National Rifle Association and the NRA Whittingham Center. He was also a member of the McSherrystown Loyal Order of Moose #720 and the Spring Grove VFW #5265.
Survivors include two brothers, Bob Sell and his wife, Barbara, and Ed Sell all of Hanover; and two nephews, Andy Sell of Spring Grove and Dave Sell of Hanover.
A memorial service will be held at 6pm on Saturday, December 9, 2017 at Panebaker Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Inc., with The Rev. Eric B. Stenman officiating. Military honors being be rendered by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
