Richard W. Myers

Richard W. Myers, 90, of Hanover, peacefully passed away Thursday, April 4, 2013 in Gettysburg Hospital following a brief illness and entered into God’s eternal care.

Davis Myers, who died in 1980; his second wife, Grace Reath Myers, who died in 1996; a son, Lynn W. Myers, who died in 2000; a sister, Maeanna Millard and two brothers, Maurice and Lester Myers.

A veteran of the United States Army, he served overseas during World War II. In 1984, he retired from BorgWarner, Inc. following 37 years of service. Following his retirement, he worked for the Hanover Evening Sun for over 10 years. A finder of lost things, he enjoyed the “seek and find” thrill of metal detecting. Having grown up on farms and raising rabbits and riding horses, he enjoyed animals and had a special fondness for his Shih Tzu dogs.

He is survived by a son, Jerry Myers of Hanover; two daughters, Donna Cotner and her husband, Joe of Elmira, NY and Diann E. Crews and her husband, Dwight of Laurel, MD; four grandsons; two great-granddaughters, daughter-in-law, Jane Myers of Spring Grove; brother, Robert Myers and his wife, Dorothy; sister, Marcella Keener and her husband, Wilbur; step-daughter, Tammie Dailey and her husband, Joe of Abbottstown and additional members of extended family.

Following cremation, a graveside service will be held at 4 pm Monday, April 8, 2013 at St. John’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, 100 E. Water Street, Abbottstown.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Village of Laurel Run, 6375 Chambersburg Road, Fayetteville, PA 17222, where he received amazing care.
