Richard B. “Dick” Henry, Sr., 77, of Hanover, loving husband of Marian Szymanski Henry, entered into eternal rest while surrounded by his family Sunday, January 17, 2010 in Hanover Hospital.



Born February 7, 1932 in Newport, PA, he was the son of the late Ralph and Helen Walters Henry, and had resided in Manchester, MD for over 30 years before relocating to Hanover nine years ago. Although a farmer at heart, he was a skilled carpenter by trade and had achieved the highest carpentry classification of Master Mechanic. He was a member of St. David’s United Church of Christ, the carpenters’ Local Union 101, and the Hanover Moose Lodge # 227. He enjoyed playing golf, camping and traveling with his family.



In addition to his wife of 56 years, he is survived by a daughter, Sandra Kuhn and her husband, David, of East Berlin; a son, Richard Henry, Jr. and his wife, Cindy, of Thomasville; a daughter-in-law, Dorothy L. Henry of Hampstead, MD; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews, one with whom he shared a special bond, Tim Bailey of Eldorado, IL. He was preceded in death by a son, Ralph E. Henry, Sr. and a sister, Nancy Eaton.



The funeral will be held at 1 pm Wednesday, January 20, 2010 at St. David’s United Church of Christ with The Rev. Scott A. Sager officiating. Burial will follow in St. David’s Cemetery with his grandsons serving as the pallbearers. The viewing will be held one hour prior to the service at the church.
