Richard G. Harrison, 74, of Hanover, died Thursday, May 3, 2018 from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
Born on Monday, August 30, 1943 in Fairmont, WV, he was a son of the late Charles and Mary Johnson Harrison. He was also preceded in death by his wife of nearly 40 years, Dorothy J. Harrison, who died in 2010; a sister, Florence Miller; and a grandson, Shawn Jarvis.
A US Navy veteran of the Vietnam War, Richard was a former employee of Teledyne Readco in York, and later, along with his wife, owned and operated DJ Janitorial, Inc. for many years. He enjoyed being outdoors and fishing, but mostly he loved spending time with his family.
Surviving are four children, Georgeann Wolf of Littlestown, Melvin Pittenturf and his wife, Susan, of Hanover, Richard Burnham and his wife, Katherine, of Joppa, MD, and Terry Harrison and his wife, Louise, of York; nine grandchildren, Duane, Kayla, Destiny, Ashlin, Jasmine, Brian, Brittany, Maddie, Karlie and Tyler; great-grandchildren, Danielle and Hannah; a brother, William Harrison; and a sister, Jane Nitz.
A memorial service will be held at 3 pm Tuesday, May 8, 2018 at the Panebaker Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Inc., 311 Broadway, Hanover. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service.
