Richard Herbert Harris, 89, of Hanover, husband of Thelma Hooper Trail Harris, died Friday, August 21, 2015 at Select Specialty Hospital in York.
Born on July 9, 1926 in Schenectady, NY, he was the son of the late Clarence A. and Beatrice Beal Harris. He was preceded in death by his only brother, Donald Harris.
He was a 1951 graduate of the University of Kansas and was a veteran of the United States Navy during World War II. A longtime employee of Westinghouse Electric Corp., he retired in 1985 after 34 years of service. He was a member of the Hanover First Church of God.
In addition to his wife of nearly 48 years, he is survived by his children, Barbara Beville and Nancy Carfine and her husband, Armond, all of Baltimore, MD; Linda Jackson and her husband, Jeffrey of Dover; Richard Harris of Montrose, CA; John Trail and his wife, Denise of Finksburg, MD; Bremen Trail and his wife, Debbie of Reisterstown, MD; Cathy Berzins of Ocean View, DE; and Kevin Harris and his wife, Amy of Salisbury, MD; 15 grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild.
The memorial service will be held at 11 am Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at Hanover First Church of God, 600 Fairview Drive, Hanover with Pastor Jerry Shoap officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the church.
