Richard “Dick” Jones, 87, passed away peacefully and surrounded with love at his home on Saturday, May 11, 2024.
Dick was a true gentleman…always kind and courteous. He loved caring for others…honestly, fully and compassionately. He was always quick with a smile, wink, wave or compliment to help make someone else’s day better or brighter. Making others happy gave him joy.
Dick owned and operated Dick Jones Sales Inc., a national distributor of material handling equipment, for over 60 years. His success was a testament to his hard work, sacrifice and dedication.
He was the loving and devoted husband to Evelyn for nearly 50 years until her passing in May of 2011; father to Jessica Teel and her husband, John, of New Oxford, and Jennie Edwards of Hanover; and grandfather of Jacob Edwards of Hanover and Samuel Edwards of Rockville, MD.
The funeral and burial will be private. A celebration of Dick’s life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Sacred Heart Basilica, 30 Basilica Drive, Hanover, PA 17331, or to VNA Hospice of Hanover & Spring Grove, 440 Madison Street, Hanover, PA 17331, or to the York County SPCA, 3159 N. Susquehanna Trail, York, PA 17406.
