Richard E. Dehoff, 80, of Hanover, passed away Saturday, July 29, 2023 at Hanover Hall Nursing Center.
Born on Tuesday, June 1, 1943 in Emigsville, he was a son of the late Richard S. and Henrietta M. Sawmiller Dehoff. Dick was a gardener, dog lover, sportsman, hunter, and fisherman. He has hunted and fished in the Northwest Territories above the Arctic Circle, Newfoundland, Wyoming, New Jersey, Delaware, Maryland, Florida, North Carolina, New York, Maine, Colorado, and Pennsylvania. He prided himself as a sportsman and conservationist first, hunter and fisherman second.
Dick was a 1962 graduate of Central York High School where he played baseball, football, and basketball. He also played American Legion baseball and Central League baseball. Dick retired from Conewago Enterprises in 2001. He was at one time or another associated with various clubs and organizations. He served as president, vice president, secretary, and board of directors for the Emigsville Rod and Gun Club, and he also belonged to Ducks Unlimited and Pheasants Forever. He served as past president of the York Club of Printing House Craftsmen.
He leaves behind his loving wife, Elana Kohr Dehoff; three lovely daughters, Lorie and husband Steve Pergament, Marci and husband Paul Hemmann, Jennifer and husband Chance Miner; 11 grandchildren, Zach, Jake, Ryan, Katherine, Hillary, Wes, Lindsey, Curtis, Mackenzie, Kier, and Pastelle; three great grandchildren, Adalie, Bastian, and Julian Ilgenfritz; brother, Donald; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, sister-in-laws, and brother-in-laws.
A memorial service will be held at 11 am on Saturday, August 12, 2023 at Emmanuel UCC, Center Square, Abbottstown, PA 17301. A visitation will be held two hours prior to the service.
