Col. Richard D. Couzins (USAF Retired), 85, of New Oxford, husband of Nancy J. Smith Couzins, entered into God’s eternal care on Thursday, January 18, 2024 at Wellspan York Hospital.
Born on Monday, March 14, 1938 in San Bernardino, CA, he was the son of the late Harry Sidney Couzins and Euretha Lillie Dixon Couzins. He was also preceded in death by his daughter, Keri B. Beam, who died in 2022; and a sister, Sylvia Maureen Marshall. Col. Couzins was a graduate of Oklahoma State University and retired from the US Air Force after 33 years of service (1958-91). During that time he attended the Air War College, and the Air Command and Staff College. He was a member of the Church of the Open Door in Westminster, MD and enjoyed researching genealogy.
In addition to his wife of 62 years, he is survived by three sons, David Couzins and his wife, Gilda, Christopher Couzins and his wife, Annette, and Todd Couzins; nine grandchildren, Sara, Caleb, Kiley, Kevin, Nathan, Jonathan, Emily, Nicholas and Melissa; and a sister, Judy Hughes.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00AM on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at St. Paul’s (Dubs) Church Cemetery, 1958 Dubs Church Road in Hanover with The Rev. Ray Shutt officiating. The family will receive friends at a viewing from 6:00 to 8:00 PM Monday at Panebaker Funeral Home & Cremation Care Center, Inc., 311 Broadway in Hanover.
