Richard H. Cholet, 81, of Hanover, devoted husband, dedicated father and faithful servant, was called home on Tuesday, April 2, 2013 following a brief illness.
Born on May 7, 1931 in Jefferson City, MO, he was a son of the late Harold F. and Virginia Hennessy Cholet. He was also preceded in death by his brothers, Gene and Gerard Cholet; and his sisters, Virginia Hutsell and Gail Williams.
Richard served in the US Army during the Korean War. He graduated from St. Louis University, and was employed by Rorer Pharmaceutical and Dermic Labs for 29 years until retiring in 1986. Richard was involved in the Ombudsman Program for Agency on Aging, served as a volunteer for United Way of York County, and was an antique car enthusiast.
He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Joan Harbur Cholet; three children, Jean DeLong and her husband, Brian; James Cholet and his wife, Laura; and Valerie Cholet; six grandchildren: Carrie Jonsson and her husband, Peter, Natalie DeLong and husband Derek, Michael Cholet, Alexander Cholet, Hannah Rowe, and Thomas Rowe; one great-grandchild, Halina Jonsson; three sisters, Sister Frances Virginia CSJ, Margaret Baudo and his twin, Rita White.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 am Friday April 5, 2013, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, with The Rev. Joseph F. Gotwalt celebrating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph Catholic Church Cemetery, with military honors rendered by the Hanover Allied Veterans Honor Guard. The family will receive friends at a visitation to be held 9:45-10:45 am prior to the service at the church.
